Tumescent Liposuction
Deposits of fat can cling to problem areas, such as thighs, buttocks, and the area around the abdomen. These can be hard to get rid of, even with diet and exercise. If you have fat you'd like to get rid of, and you are in the area around San Diego, liposuction at our Tijuana facility can help you achieve the body contour you want.
At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Institute we perform tumescent liposuction. This advanced method minimizes post-operative pain, swelling, and bruising by reducing the amount of blood loss associated with the procedure. To begin tumescent liposuction, Dr. Soberanes injects a liquid into the targeted areas. This liquid causes the fat deposits to swell and harden, which allows the cannula, a surgical tube connected to a suction device, to move smoothly underneath the skin.
The cannula is used at our office near San Diego to remove fat deposits during liposuction. Tijuana cosmetic surgeon Dr. Sergio Soberanes inserts the cannula into the areas where you have fat deposits, and, moving it back and forth, breaks up the fat cells and suctions them out. Liposuction only requires a few incisions, usually about 3mm long, so there is virtually no noticeable scarring. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities within a week of surgery. Liposuction can be performed with an arm lift or body lift for reshaping that is even more dramatic and pronounced. Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Age, loss of skin elasticity, and weight fluctuations can cause your abdominal area to protrude, resulting in a deposit of skin and fat that does not respond well to diet and exercise. Pregnancy, in particular, can stretch out abdominal skin and muscles. For our patients in the area around San Diego, abdominoplasty surgery can remove this fat and skin, and tighten the underlying muscles, resulting in a firmer, flatter, more toned abdomen. The procedure is also useful for patients who have sagging skin that remains after massive weight loss, such as the weight loss accomplished through bariatric surgery.
In abdominoplasty surgery, also known as "tummy tuck," Dr. Soberanes makes several incisions to give him access to the fat and muscle beneath. He removes fat as necessary, tightens the muscles, and may also reposition the navel. Depending upon the extent of surgery needed, you may be a candidate for a partial abdominoplasty, or "mini-tummy tuck," in which the navel is not moved, and the incisions are less extensive.
Our San Diego-area abdominoplasty patients will have some scars as a result of the surgery. However, when Dr. Soberanes selects the locations for the incisions, and therefore the scars, he carefully places them so they can be concealed beneath a bathing suit.
